NEW LIGHT MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH


Pastor Raynard K. Givhan is native of Kansas City, Kansas in Wyandotte county. He was born in 1969 at Kansas University Medical Center. He professed Christ at an early age at the Rising Star Baptist Church of Kansas City, Kansas under the leadership of the late J.R. Williamson.

Pastor Givhan received his education in the Kansas City, Kansas area as well as in the St. Louis area eventually graduating from Wyandotte High School.  He entered the military serving as an Electrician's Mate in the Naval Nuclear Program.  He also attended Chesapeake Community College in Virginia.  During his enlistment, Pastor Givhan participated in Operation Desert Storm/Shield receiving a Southwest Asia Service medal.  He was honorably discharged in 1993.

Upon returning to the Kansas City area, he reunited with the church of his childhood, Rising Star Baptist Church.  He was an active member serving in several ministries.  In 2009, he answered the call of God and became licensed to preach.  He was ordained in 2013 at Rising Star now under the leadership of Pastor Michael D. Black. 

Pastor Givhan received the call to pastor New Light Baptist Church in March of 2017 serving as Pastor-elect. He was officially installed as Pastor in July 2017. Happily married for twenty-one years to the former Michelle Freeman, this father of four loves (aside from preaching and teaching) reading, basketball, and spending time with family.
